People's Stories Review Panels

Panels come together in person every few weeks to carry out thematic analysis of a collection of stories gathered from three main sources:

• Community Reporters
• Our Shared Agreement Community Listeners
• Completed People's Story Templates sent in by members of the health and social care workforce.

Panel members include volunteers who are experts by experience, academics/researchers, community/voluntary sector partners, engagement team members, people from public health, adult social care, mental health, community health and primary care.

Each panel is made up of around 6 people who review a small collection of stories, usually around 7-12 stories. Panels usually start at 9.30am and finish by 4.00pm

Being part of a panel involves reading or listening to the stories before and making a few notes about thoughts, insights, observations and themes. On the panel day we facilitate a three-step analysis using sticky notes, flip chart sheets and lots of tea and biscuits! Panels firstly identify themes from each story, then look at themes across the collection of stories, and finally define each theme based on what the stories are telling us.

Themes and insights are then collated across several panels for inclusion in the Measuring What Matters report.
