What does an Our Shared Agreement Listener do?

It’s simple, but it matters. As a Listener, you’ll:

  • Have conversations with people
  • Hear their stories
  • Listen to what really matters to them about health, care, and wellbeing in Lincolnshire
  • Share the information and insights you gather with us

This will help us explore how we can strengthen relationships between people and health, care, and wellbeing services.

These conversations don’t have to be big and formal. They could be relaxed chats with people in your group, community, service, or organisation. And they could happen in the staff room, at an event, over a catch-up with friends, or just in passing.

You may be becoming a Listener as someone who works in health or care services, or is an It’s All About People Champion, a volunteer, or a person with lived experience.

Wherever you are, whatever you do, you’re already in the right place to make great and valuable conversations happen!

Why your role as a Listener matters

The world of health and care is changing – fast. Demand is increasing, pressures are mounting, and with this, structures are shifting and priorities evolving.

But at the heart of it all are people. And Our Shared Agreement Listeners make sure we don’t lose sight of that. Our Listeners remind us that, above all, health, care, and wellbeing are all about people and all about relationships.

By listening, you’ll:

  • Strengthen the relationship between the people of Lincolnshire and health and care services.
  • Help test and shape the Five Foundations that drive Our Shared Agreement.
  • Spread the word and grow a movement that’s about real relationships, not tick-box surveys.

This is about listening to and gathering stories, building trust, and making change happen from the ground up. And you can be right at the heart of this.

What is Our Shared Agreement?

Launched in July 2024, Our Shared Agreement is a growing movement to build a better relationship between people and health and care services in Lincolnshire. It’s about helping everyone live their best lives, whatever their age or stage of life.

Together - professionals, volunteers, patients, families, and communities - we’re learning, sharing, and building the kind of support that really works for people.

The Five Foundations

At the heart of our Shared Agreement are Five FoundationsThese were shaped both by people who deliver care in Lincolnshire and those who receive it.

Each Foundation offers new ways of thinking and working together. They invite us to move beyond problems and processes, and instead focus on strengths, hopes, and what truly matters most to people:

These Foundations are here to guide us - not as rules, but as everyday touchstones for building better conversations, stronger relationships, and more meaningful care and support.
