Our second It's All About People Champion we're celebrating this week is Cat Howle, whose passion for personalised care shines through in everything she does.
In Cat's own words, she first heard about It's All About People during her time working with Continuing Healthcare, where it highlighted "the importance of person-centred care in Personal Health Budgets and being creative to achieve the patient's needs."
Since then, Cat has continued to champion personalised approaches throughout her career. After moving into Cardiology, she saw firsthand the difference that meaningful conversations can make. As Cat explains, "Cardiac rehab is a great way to have those personalised discussions and ask, 'What matters to you?', and support patients to realise their potential after what can sometimes be quite a scary event."
Today, Cat works as a Macmillan Personalisation Improvement Facilitator, where she continues to put people's voices at the centre of improvement work. In this role, she supports teams to have person-centred conversations and ensures that services evolve based on what people are telling us. You'll be able to hear more about her role in our podcast, which will be released later this week.
Alongside this, Cat is also a valued trainer within the IAAP team, delivering Shared Decision Making and Personalised Care and Support Planning sessions to colleagues across the Lincolnshire network. Reflecting on this part of her role, Cat says she "always really enjoys getting the content across and learning about all the wonderful things people are doing across Lincolnshire."
Cat's enthusiasm, positivity and commitment to personalised care make her a fantastic It's All About People Champion. She's also someone who is always willing to get involved and support new ideas, bringing energy and encouragement wherever she goes.
Please join us in celebrating Cat and the incredible contribution she makes. You can hear more from her in the upcoming podcast and meet her at the Personalisation Huddle on Friday.
