"I" Statements

In 2022, we worked in collaboration with experts by experience to produce a series of "I" Statements from a service user perspective, including carers.

The statements, which you can view in the videos below, outline the needs of service users and how they would like you to work with them. These have been created to inform your understanding and support your journey to deliver trauma-informed, person-centered care.

"Together We Will..." statements

In March 2023, we hosted our Lincolnshire Community Mental Health & Wellbeing Event. We worked closely with a wide range of stakeholders from the third sector, voluntary and community groups, experts of experience, local councils, primary care, and more, to develop "Together we will..." statements.

Leading on from the "I" Statements - where service users communicated their needs and how they would like you to work with them - the "We" Statements outline our commitment to them, our patients, service users and their loved ones and/or carers.

This has resulted in an overarching statement and a further six statements to support it, that were collaboratively agreed upon and listed below:

"Together we will value each other as experts of our own experiences."

Safety
Together we will offer a safe non-judgemental environment for you to be open and honest and to be ourselves.

Collaboration
Together we will walk alongside you instead of leading you by asking the service users, carers and all involved with your care, what your goals are and how we will achieve them together.

Trustworthiness
Together we will do what we say we will do, in an environment of openness and honesty.

Choice
Together we will recognise the importance of active listening and having time to make choices.

Cultural Consideration
Together we will embrace and value differences and implement this in a person-centred way.

Empowerment
Together we will make no decisions about you without you.

Watch our "Together We Will..." video below where representatives across our stakeholder groups read out the statements, demonstrating cross-organisational commitment to this new way of working.

How you can support us?

"Be involved, Be open-minded, Be an active listener."
